News and Challenge Course Date

Hi, everyone.

Thanks again to Brigit Anderson of The Mountaineers for stopping by at yesterday's meeting.  Stay tuned for more information from her regarding the simplified process for signing up for Mountaineers-sponsored trips. Keep in mind that we can make suggestions for her, too, so if there's a trip we want to take we should let her know and we'll work together to organize it.

Club Trip: TESC Challenge Course - A date has been set for our club trip to the Challenge Course at The Evergreen State College: Saturday, April 19th. Put in on your calendars and we'll communicate the details at the next meeting. Also, if you know a parent who would like to volunteer to come along please let me know.

A few more reminders:
  1. If you're interested in the High School Sailing Team, contact Mr. Hinchcliffe ASAP in room 121
  2. Student Night at the Warehouse Rock Gym is on every Saturday from 7-11 PM--1/2 off passes. We're looking at March 17th for our first "NTHS Night" at the Rock Gym at an even cheaper rate. More details to come.
  3. There is an Olympia Mountaineers Conservation meeting this Saturday the 22nd. If interested, let Mr. Coker know--it would be a good opportunity to make connections.
  4. Check out the Facebook page--it will probably be updated more often than this page. We're on Twitter, too @nthsoutdoors

Sign-up for Mountaineers programs and other updates

Hello, everyone.

The information night was a success (more on that at our next meeting), but unfortunately the Mountaineers' Adventure Club coordinator, Brigit Anderson, was unable to attend due to a mild concussion (bike accident!). She's fine and has asked me to share the following program sign-up information with you:
  • You and your parents can sign you up free of charge online using the online Guest Membership form. You can also submit the PDF form via mail, if you wish. Just print out and mail.
  • All students should apply for financial assistance (unless you absolutely don't want any). Here's the link to that form.
  • All students and parents must sign the Youth Programs Waiver Form and turn in to Brigit
  • All student and parents must complete and sign the Medical Authorization Form and turn in to Brigit
  • One more legal form: all students and parents must complete and sign the Youth Health Form and turn in to Brigit
We'll talk more about this on Wednesday the 5th, but this should get you started.

Also, if you're heading to the Rock Gym, let everyone know. We'll talk about setting up regular dates at our meeting. Also, Mr. Hinchcliffe is getting things going for the folks interested in sailing--stay tuned!

Information Meeting January 28th

The NTHS Outdoor Adventure Club would like to invite parents and students to our inaugural information meeting on Tuesday, January 28th, 2014 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM in the NTHS Library. Brigit Anderson, Youth Programs Coordinator for The Mountaineers Club, will be on hand to share information about their well-established programs, financial assistance and how your son/daughter can get involved.  Additionally, Gabrielle Shiosaki from the Warehouse Rock Gym here in Olympia will provide information about their ongoing teen program and special deals available for students.  Most importantly,we will use the meeting to solicit and discuss ideas, input and support from you as we develop a network of partnerships that will provide more opportunities for our students to get outside and safely enjoy all the recreational opportunities our region has to offer.

Hope to see you there!
