Any day is a good day for a hike, but it's even better on Earth Day! A lot of fun, and everyone got to a chance to better understand the difference between "waterproof" and "water resistant"!
The Washington Trails Association (WTA) offers some great opportunities for teens during the summer! If you're looking to get outside for some adventure and service, check out these great WTA Youth Volunteer Opportunities:
High school students ages 14-18 join WTA for a week on the trail during a Youth Vacation. Learn all about the world of building and maintaining hiking trails, experienced in a safe, teamwork-oriented environment.
WTA's Youth Ambassador Program is designed to provide leadership opportunities for returning teen volunteers. Ambassadors learn important skills in communication, outreach and public speaking.
WTA fields one-day work parties Tuesday through Sunday year-round in the Puget Sound area. We also have regularly scheduled work parties in Northwest Washington, Southwest Washington, the Olympics and Spokane. Kids 10 and up (and their parents) are encouraged to sign-up.
For groups larger than six people, we recommend that you call the WTA office to discuss dates and locations. We do our best to accommodate groups, but do need at least two months advanced notice.
Lacey Parks and Recreation has now opened up registration for the White Pass Ski/Snowboard trip coming up on Saturday, February 11th. Please see all the options below, and call 360-491-0857 to register (you cannot register for this online). Please note the following important considerations:
There are only 20 spots available for vans/transportation, so get in early and fill the vans with NTHS OAC members and friends!
Families/groups may transport themselves--anyone in the NTHS community is welcome, so spread the word!!
No children under 10 may ride in the vans.
If you or your parents have any questions, contact Kathy Owen at kowen@ci.lacey.wa.us
This is a great deal! Please remember: this is not a school-sponsored event, but a discount opportunity created for our families thanks to Lacey Parks and Recreation. If you have any questions, please call Kathy Owen at 360-491-0857. CLICK ON THE IMAGE BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION!
