Cuoio Park Exploration - December 9th

Join Outdoor Adventure Club and the City of Lacey on Saturday, December 9th at 10:00 AM for a fun "preview" of what's going to be a new and spectacular local park! Bonus: it's only about two miles from NTHS! The land for the 400+ acre Greg J. Cuoio Community Park in Lacey was acquired back in 2011, and is still awaiting development. This is your chance to explore the currently “no access” property with City of Lacey officials and help begin to develop a vision for the future of this beautiful public land just down the street from NTHS! We’ll spend a couple of hours walking around the property and exploring what it has to offer.

If interested, you'll need to get a permission slip from Mr. Coker in the NTHS Library and carefully review the specific trip information linked here. Check in with Mr. Coker if you have any questions.

Summer Opportunities with the Washington Trail Association!

The Washington Trails Association (WTA) offers some great opportunities for teens during the summer! If you're looking to get outside for some adventure and service, check out these great WTA Youth Volunteer Opportunities:

Youth Vacations

High school students ages 14-18 join WTA for a week on the trail during a Youth Vacation. Learn all about the world of building and maintaining hiking trails, experienced in a safe, teamwork-oriented environment.

Youth Ambassador Program

WTA's Youth Ambassador Program is designed to provide leadership opportunities for returning teen volunteers. Ambassadors learn important skills in communication, outreach and public speaking.

One Day Work Parties

WTA fields one-day work parties Tuesday through Sunday year-round in the Puget Sound area. We also have regularly scheduled work parties in Northwest Washington, Southwest Washington, the Olympics and Spokane. Kids 10 and up (and their parents) are encouraged to sign-up.

Group Opportunities

For groups larger than six people, we recommend that you call the WTA office to discuss dates and locations. We do our best to accommodate groups, but do need at least two months advanced notice.
